While these advancements helped prevent widespread in many developing nations, they also raised environmental concerns. Over-reliance on synthetic chemicals led to soil and the contamination of local water supplies. Today, scientists are seeking to these high-production methods with more sustainable and organic farming practices. Ensuring food for a growing global population remains one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
